College Fair Alumni Representative
The number one role for our Alumni Admissions Volunteers is attending "College Fairs or Nights," which are great recruiting opportunities that introduce
high school students to many different colleges. One or more high schools in an area may sponsor a day or evening program and invite selected colleges to meet with students and their parents. The office of Undergraduate
Admissions receives hundreds of invitations each year to participate in these programs. While it is not possible for Admissions counselors to attend all fairs, we strive to have an alumni representative at fairs where
students from our top high schools will be in attendance.
As college fair representatives, alumni will talk with students and their parents as well as represent Binghamton University by handing out admissions publications and fielding questions. With your help, Binghamton is able to have a presence and be visible in many regions across the country throughout the recruiting season.

NEW !! Adopt-a-School Liaison (Planned for rollout for late Fall 2007)
Alumni Admissions Volunteers establish a liaison role with up to three high schools in their area to act as a "recruiter" for all prospective and admitted students. Basically, alumni act as a local Binghamton University resource for the high school counselors, students and parents. Specifically, you deliver a Binghamton University Counselor Packet to the school; make congratulatory calls or emails to admitted students. You receive periodic lists of admitted students for their adopted schools beginning in January. The personal attention you offer to the student(s) can be a powerful and persuasive tool that enhances the overall recruitment effectiveness for the University.
To inquire today about the new program, please contact Andy Morris at ahmorris@binghamton.edu or 607-777-3485.

Prospective and Admitted Student Reception Host
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions invites prospective students to attend general information sessions held in the fall in a variety of locations. Admitted students to Binghamton University are invited to receptions in the spring. At these receptions, you add the personal touch by assisting the admissions and Binghamton staff. You help with registration, greet people, and talk informally about the University, share brief experiences and personal successes, and assist in the question-and-answer session.

Scholarship Promoter
Alumni are needed to promote and make congratulatory calls to top academic achievers invited to be participants in the Binghamton University Scholars Program or recipients of various scholarship programs. Through your one-on-one personal meetings, phone calls and emails, you are able to convey the impressiveness of these awards and further persuade the student to attend Binghamton. When talking or meeting with students, alumni might explain what a Binghamton degree and the “Binghamton Experience” means to them. Scholarship promoters are encouraged to extend a personal invitation to the students and their parents to talk further.
