Welcome.
My position as a Senior Assistant Director of Admission and Coordinator of International Undergraduate Admissions, is a passion not a just a job! I love assisting students in learning about the many different and wonderful facets of Binghamton University!
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Masters in Applied Social Science at Binghamton University, and worked a number of years at “the premier public university in the Northeast U.S.” I’m very much aware of the academic choices and extracurricular opportunities Binghamton University offer undergraduate students who enroll from all corners of the globe. Plus, a native of Syracuse, New York (about one hour north of Binghamton, New York), and a life-long resident of New York State, I’m also able to share stories and information about our four great seasons, happenings, news and other information about our downtown and suburban areas.
The single most important aspect of my job I believe is to help international students and families easily gather information, apply and enroll at Binghamton University. I want each undergraduate student and their family to feel confident that they found the right fit in choosing to attend Binghamton University! Our top U.S. public university rankings are reflected in our high retention and graduation rates.
Choosing Binghamton University also means you choose success and amazing outcomes – a professional career, graduate school or more. Often, I stay in touch with new students through programs and activities especially for international students, such as my role as a host for Friendship Family Program through Binghamton’s Office of International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS).
While I frequently travel the world for recruiting, I also find time to travel for pleasure, too. So far, I have been to the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and North America (over 39 U.S. states and Canada). Though the miles traveled to date are many thousands, I’m always looking to explore more states, countries and continents.
Please contact me, and let me assist you with your quest for information and how to apply to Binghamton University. I would welcome the opportunity to add you to our growing list of successful international students. You can give me a ring at 607-777-4022, catch me on AIM buinternational, chat on skype buinternational or fire off an e-mail to jschmidt@binghamton.edu I look forward to talking to you about Binghamton!
